Behavior modification
Assignment

Behavior can be modified. One can easily acknowledge this reality that mostly we adapt those
behaviors which are acceptable and conformed by others. Self-perception is also contaminated with
the opinion of significant others. Being a student of psychology you have to explore either self-esteem
of others is effected by judgment of significant others or not. You have to conduct an experiment,
important information is as follows: (15)

• Tool: Rosenberg self-esteem scale (Which is uploaded in downloaded section of LMS)
• Title: To find out that how self-esteem of individual can be altered by the response of
significant others

INSTRUCTIONS:
• First of all you have to take two school children age ranged from 11 to 13 years and ask them
to get the questionnaire filled. Once the questionnaire is filled you are supposed to score it
according to the instructions given the end of the questionnaire. Scores reflects their self-esteem and high score mirrors high self-esteem.
• Second task is to arrange a discussion between the teacher and selected children where the
teacher has to talk about their success and try to acknowledge their efforts as a competent
student like they are obedient, motivated and proficient. After that, you have to get the
questionnaire filled from the student once again. Now you have to see the differences that
either there are some differences in scores or not.
• Next, your task is to justify the difference in scores whether student’s self-esteem is really
affected by the judgment of significant people or not. Mostly, it is possible that after receiving
positive feedback from some worthy person one can surely experience high self-esteem.

Note:
Only in the case of Assignment, 24 hours extra / grace period after the due date is
usually available to overcome uploading difficulties which may be faced by the
students on last date. This extra time should only be used to meet the emergencies and
above mentioned due dates should always be treated as final to avoid any
inconvenience

audio lectures and use other reference books also.
