“Motivation in Sports”

Objectives:
This assignment will help students in:
• Assessment of problems related to sports persons and guiding them in certain ways.
• Applying the psychological principles in field of sports.
• Leaning how to write a research report.
The Sport Motivation Scale is available in downloads section of VU-LMS. You are supposed to go to a nearby school, college, university or sports club and get the questionnaire filled from any sports person. After getting it filled, you have to score it according to the provided instructions at the end of the scale.
Now you have to prepare a report which will include following main sections:

1. Introduction
A brief introduction of project including brief description of motivation and its importance in sports (4)
2. Procedure/Method
This section will include the narration of the steps that you have followed while conducting this research. (3)
3. Results
• You are required to present the calculated scores in the form of a bar chart/bar graph/histogram presenting the ratings of the person who filled the form. (3)
• Now you have to prepare a brief report of overall motivation of the person on the basis of the scores. This report must elucidate the results that are presented in the graph. Moreover you have to describe which domain of this scale has been scored highest and lowest by the sports person/athlete. (4)
4. Discussion and Suggestions:
Support your results and give practical suggestions that can help in improving motivation of that athlete on the basis of results (4)
5. Appendices
You need to attach the filled and scored form in a scanned/soft copy. (2)
