Disease is the most powerful enemy of mankind. Doctors fight against it. The fight is hard and fierce. This is way medical profession is more than a profession. It is a mission. Naturally, it is not for those who love a life of luxury. A doctor., no doubt, is human being. He needs the good things of life as much as his neighbours do. But a doctor is not a businessman. His only aim in life is not to earn more and more money all costs. Making money out of disease and misery is not worthy of a doctor,s noble profession. A doctor has the most intimate knowledge of a sickman, s agony and helplessness. He should also have an equal measure of compassion and sympathy for his fellow beings. This is why we expect a doctor to pay more attention to the patient, s pain than to his purse. A good doctor lives a busy and fruitful life. He devotes all his time and energy to relieve the pain and misery of his patients. He begins his day with the rising of the sun and as long as his patients need him, he cannot rest. Even in the night. He has to get up and visit patients who need immediate help. A doctor has to go be thorough and careful. A little carelessness in examining the patients or a slight mistake a diagnosing the disease may lead to painful. Sometimes, dangerous results. A doctor has to be polite. Patient and persuasive. Giving the sickman courage and confidence is as important as giving him pills and mixtures. A doctor has more opportunities than anyone else to serve and help that he has fully paid his debt to society in the thing he should seek. Helping those who need help is the noblest of all virtues.
