The modern science has its beginning in the seventeenth century. It has made great progress since, and added much to the comfort of human life. It has conquered space and time. It has linked together all the parts of world. It has diminished disease and poverty. It has raised the standard of living. It has built palatial building. But has it brought happiness to man/ happiness is a state of mental satisfaction. This perhaps. Science has failed to achieve. There was a time. Before the appearance of modern science. When men were satisfied with their liyes. No doubt. There were the rich and the poor. But there was not much enmity between the two. The king was considered the deputy of Allah. The rich thought it their birth-right to be rich. Ant the poor. Too . were contented with their lot. If the rich had plenty to eat. They cared for the poor. Too. Man enjoyed few comforts of life but had peace of mined. And was happy. Now with the progress in science. The world has split into hostile groups. Capitalism, socialism, Nationalism, and what not, dominate this or that part of the world. The invention of deadly weapons of war has destroyed the peace of the world. We are living under the shadow of another world war. Science has given us many physical comforts but it has snatched. Away our peace of mind. This world is full of disputes between the capitalist and labourer, the landlord and the tenant. A bitier class-struggle has stared. The capitalists have joined hands to exploit The labourers have got together to get the maximum share in the fruits of this earth. The capitalists is unhappy because of the constant threat of strikes by the workers. The labourer is sad his income meet his growing needs. In the modern world of science. Men may be better-fed. Better-clothed than his ancestors but I do not think he is happier than them. He has always one or the other troubling his mind. And the great curse of science is that it has turned us into machines .
