Medical Entry Test – Common entrance test for MBBS, BDS seats on Sept 13, 2011
LAHORE (August 5, 2011) : University of Health Sciences (UHS) Vice-Chancellor Prof Malik Husain Mubashar says only one common entrance test will be held this year for admission to medical education institutes.
The test will be held simultaneously in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Hasanabdal and Rahim Yar Khan on Sept 13.
Dr Mubashar said this at an orientation seminar on admission to medical colleges at Alhamra Arts Council on Friday. Up to 3,000 candidates and their parents attended the seminar.
He said there would be one paper consisting of 220 multiple choice questions: physics (44 questions), chemistry (58 questions), English (30 questions) and biology (88 questions). Each candidate will have to encircle the right choice in a question. The duration of the test will be 150 minutes which will begin at 9am and conclude at 11:30am.
He said after the test, candidates would take an aptitude test and fill in a feedback form, for which 30 minutes would be given to them. He said as the aptitude testing was being introduced for the first time in medical entrance tests, it would bear no marks this time. However, from next year, some marks would be given to aptitude testing in the entrance test score.
The VC said the candidates who had scored at least 60 per cent of marks in FSc (pre-medical) or equivalent examination were eligible to apply for the entrance test. Those awaiting result should provide a hope-certificate issued by the principal of their institution, clearly stating that the candidate was to secure at least 60 per cent of marks in his/her examination. Candidates having a domicile of any district of Punjab, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are eligible to take the test.
He also said there would be no fee for medical entrance test and entrance test kits would be available free of cost at the UHS and other public medical and dental colleges of the province from Aug 20. The last date for submission of application is Sept 7. The candidate will be issued a roll number slip and an admittance card at the application desk.
Prof Mubashar said the candidates would be allowed to choose the centre but they may not change it once a centre was allotted to them.
He advised the candidates to arrive at the centre wearing their admittance cards one hour before the commencement of the test as the examination halls would be sealed at 8:15am. He also said each wrong answer would cost one mark while every correct answer carried five marks.[/B]
